Munnar Bus Accident: Three Killed, Several Injured as Tourist Bus Overturns

MUNNAR: A tragic accident in Kerala’s Idukki district has claimed the lives of three individuals, including a teacher and two students from Scott Christian College, Nagercoil, after their tourist bus overturned near Echo Point, Mattupetty.

The incident occurred during a college excursion to Munnar. Initial reports indicate that the bus, carrying 40 passengers—including 37 students and three staff members—lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle on a curve, leading to the overturn.

Emergency responders promptly arrived at the scene, and the injured were transported to Tata General Hospital in Munnar. Among the injured, four individuals with serious conditions have been transferred to Theni Government Medical College Hospital and other facilities in Kottayam and Vellore for advanced treatment.

Authorities have identified the deceased as teacher Venika and students Adika and Sudhan (19). Eyewitnesses reported that excessive speed was a contributing factor to the accident.
