New Delhi, 18 July 2025 — Over 20 schools across Delhi received bomb threats on Thursday, prompting mass evacuations, panic among students and staff, and a large-scale investigation by Delhi Police and security agencies.
First Bomb Threat Reported in Rohini
According to officials, the first report came from Abhinav Public School in Rohini Sector 3, where staff alerted authorities after receiving a threatening message. Soon after, Richmondd Global School in Paschim Vihar also reported a similar threat. Notably, this was the second bomb threat in three days for Richmondd Global School.
Both incidents triggered immediate responses from Delhi Police and the Delhi Fire Service. Bomb disposal units, dog squads, and cyber forensic teams were deployed across the affected locations to conduct thorough searches.
What Did the Bomb Threat Letter Contain?
Authorities revealed disturbing details from one of the bomb threat letters, in which the sender claimed to have planted explosives—specifically trinitrotoluene (TNT)—inside school classrooms. The letter also contained violent threats and referenced personal grievances, mental health struggles, and distrust in psychiatric care.
The letter stated the explosives were concealed in black plastic bags and contained threats of mass harm, indicating a deeply troubled individual with intentions to cause panic.
Series of Bomb Threats Across Delhi This Week
This is not an isolated event. On 16 July, at least eight schools received similar threats via e-mail. In total, over 28 bomb threats targeting Delhi schools have been reported in the last seven days, making it a serious security concern for law enforcement and school authorities.
On Wednesday, schools including St. Thomas School (Paschim Vihar), Vasant Valley School (Vasant Kunj), Mother’s International School (Hauz Khas), Prudence School (Paschim Vihar and Pitampura), and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya (Lodhi Estate) were among those targeted.
The threatening e-mails were reportedly received between 5:26 am and 8:12 am. Authorities confirmed that all schools were evacuated and thoroughly searched. No explosives or suspicious materials were found.
12-Year-Old Detained in Previous Bomb Threat Case
In a related case, a 12-year-old student was detained for sending a bomb threat to St. Thomas School in Dwarka on 15 July. The same school received another threat less than 24 hours later.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka), Ankit Singh, confirmed that the minor was identified through a digital trail and later counselled and handed over to his parents.
Ongoing Investigation
Delhi Police have launched a full-scale investigation into the recent surge in bomb threats. Cybercrime experts are working to trace the origins of the threatening emails and determine whether they are the result of coordinated attacks or individual acts.
Despite the fear and disruptions caused, all threats so far have been deemed hoaxes, but the police continue to take each case seriously to ensure the safety of students and school staff.
Safety Measures Strengthened Across Schools
In response to these threats, authorities have urged all educational institutions to remain vigilant, update their security protocols, and report any suspicious activity immediately. Police presence has been increased in sensitive zones, and schools have been advised to work closely with law enforcement agencies during emergencies.
