Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, highlighted deliberate demographic changes in India’s border regions, emphasizing their implications for national security. Speaking at the inauguration of the two-day Vibrant Villages Programme (VVP) workshop, Shah said these changes should not be viewed as natural or geographical but as part of a calculated design.
“Demographic changes in border areas directly impact the security of the country and its borders. It should not be assumed that this is happening due to geographical conditions; rather, it is occurring as part of a deliberate design,” he stated.
The Vibrant Villages Programme aims to strengthen infrastructure, development, and security in remote border villages, addressing both socio-economic and strategic concerns. Shah’s remarks underline the government’s focus on safeguarding India’s borders while promoting development in these sensitive regions.
