Olympian Sift Kaur Samra delivered a stellar performance at the Asian Shooting Championships in Shymkent on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, winning the individual women’s 50m rifle 3 positions gold and contributing to India’s team title.
Samra, a world record holder, fired an impressive 459.2 in the final, narrowly edging out China’s Yang Yujie, who scored 458.8. This victory marked Samra’s fourth Asian Championships gold, underscoring her dominance in the event.
In the team event, Samra partnered with seasoned shooter Anjum Moudgil and Ashi Chouksey to secure the top podium position with a combined total of 1,753 points. Samra had already set the tone by qualifying for the eight-shooter final as the top seed with a remarkable score of 589.
The double gold achievement not only adds to India’s growing medal tally in shooting but also highlights the country’s continued strength and consistency in the sport at the Asian level.
