Police have arrested a man and are looking for his friend for allegedly drugging and raping a 15-year-old girl repeatedly over more than four months. The accused, who is at large, is the girl’s uncle. The girl and her mother were living at her uncle’s place in the city’s eastern suburbs, while her father lives in their native village.

As per police sources, when the girl’s mother was away at work, the 37-year-old uncle would ask her to give him money for buying alcohol, which the girl refused. Angry about this, he took the girl to his 21-year-old friend’s place in the vicinity and gave her a drink laced with sedatives. Later, he also forced her to drink alcohol, and when she was not in her senses, he allegedly forced himself upon her, said a police officer, adding that his friend, too, raped the girl.

The accused also threatened to kill her and her mother with a knife if she told her about the incident.

Since May, the two had been raping her every 5-7 days and even assaulted her when she resisted, the girl told the police.

Following this, the mother and daughter approached the police and filed a case. Acting on her complaint, the police arrested the 21-year-old accused, but they discovered that the uncle had gone to his village in Tamil Nadu. The two accused were booked under sections 376, 376(D)(A), 376(2)(P), 328, 506(2), 323, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and 4, 5(H), 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The girl is currently undergoing some medical examinations at Rajawadi hospital.

“The girl’s uncle is a habitual criminal and has numerous cases filed against him. We will catch him soon,” an officer said.
