Hyderabad: The tragic demise of Telangana MLA Lasya Nanditha has shocked the state after she lost her life in a car accident today. The fatal collision occurred when the SUV she was traveling in crashed into a road divider on the Outer Ring Road in Hyderabad. This marks the second major accident the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader experienced within a span of 10 days.
Merely a week and a half ago, the 37-year-old legislator narrowly escaped another accident in Narkatpally. On her way to attend a rally addressed by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, her vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. Tragically, her home guard lost his life in that incident, while she sustained minor injuries.
Today’s accident, however, proved fatal as the driver lost control of her Maruti XL6, resulting in the collision with the metal divider. Lasya Nanditha succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while her driver remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment at a private hospital. The incident transpired at 5:30 am this morning.
Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating both accidents to ascertain the circumstances surrounding them.
Lasya Nanditha, a first-time legislator from Secunderabad Cantonment (SC), was rushed to the hospital, where medical professionals declared her dead upon arrival.
Born in Hyderabad in 1986, Lasya Nanditha ventured into politics approximately ten years ago. Prior to her role as MLA from Secunderabad Cantonment in the 2023 Telangana assembly elections, she served as a corporator in the Kavadiguda ward.
Leaders across Telangana, including Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, BRS chief, and state BJP president G Kishan Reddy, along with various ministers and officials, expressed their condolences over the untimely demise of the young legislator. Revanth Reddy, deeply saddened by the loss, reminisced about his close ties with Lasya Nanditha’s late father, G Sayanna, noting the tragic coincidence of their deaths within the same month, a year apart.
