A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight from Chennai encountered a bomb threat on Tuesday evening, prompting authorities to take immediate security measures upon landing at Mumbai’s airport.
IndiGo flight 6E 5149, operating on the Chennai-Mumbai route, received a bomb threat message during its journey. The flight landed safely at Mumbai airport around 10:30 pm, where it was directed to an isolation bay for thorough security checks.
The airline confirmed the incident, stating that all necessary protocols were followed, and passengers were safely disembarked from the aircraft.
“After receiving a bomb threat, IndiGo flight 6E 5149 from Chennai to Mumbai landed in Mumbai as per protocol. The aircraft was taken to an isolation bay, and all passengers were safely disembarked,” IndiGo said in a statement.
“We are cooperating with security agencies, and once all security checks are completed, the aircraft will return to the terminal area,” the statement added.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters in Mumbai also received a bomb threat via email. Mumbai Police conducted a thorough search of the premises but found nothing suspicious, tightening security measures in response to the threat.
The incident underscores heightened vigilance and swift responses by authorities to ensure the safety and security of all passengers and facilities amid such threats.
