Apple Inc. is gearing up for its biggest event of the year, set to take place on Monday, September 9. The company will unveil its latest innovations, including the iPhone 16 series, at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.
The event, dubbed “It’s Glowtime,” will commence at 10 a.m. local time. This timing is unusual for Apple, as the company typically schedules its major announcements on Tuesdays. This Monday slot allows Apple to avoid competition with a US presidential debate and a potential $14 billion tax decision by the European Commission.
The iPhone 16 lineup will be the highlight of the presentation. Apple is expected to introduce four new models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. As in previous years, the updates to the non-Pro models will be minor. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will feature slightly improved processors and increased memory (8 GB), supporting new features like Apple Intelligence.
The iPhone 16 Pro models will see more significant changes, including larger displays and slimmer bezels. The Pro versions will also feature enhanced camera systems, with a new touch-sensitive button for photo and video functions, a major new addition.
Apple will also debut new AirPods, replacing the second- and third-generation models. These will include updated cases with USB-C charging and improved audio quality. The mid-tier model will have noise cancellation features and a higher-end case with a speaker for locating the earbuds.
The new AirPods will focus on hearing health, though some enhancements may be delayed. A new version of AirPods Pro and updated AirPods Max are also in development but might not be released immediately.
The Apple Watch lineup will see updates across all models. The Apple Watch Series 10, marking a decade of the product, will feature a thinner design and larger screen options. The Watch Ultra will receive internal upgrades, while the new Apple Watch SE will debut as a low-end option.
Although new AI features are coming to Apple’s devices, the Apple Watch will likely see limited AI integration. A major new health feature, sleep apnea detection, is expected but may not be available at launch.
Mac updates, including a transition to M4 chips, and a new iPhone SE are expected at a follow-up event later in the year. New iPads and AirTags are also in development but are anticipated for a future launch.
Stay tuned for what promises to be a landmark event in Apple’s product lineup.
