Israel is “satisfied” with the performance of Indian construction workers and is expecting over 1,000 more to arrive soon. This follows the Framework Agreement on Temporary Employment of Indians, signed by India and Israel in May 2023.
The agreement aims to address the shortage of workers in specific construction fields in Israel. The Israeli Embassy reported on X (formerly Twitter) that most Indian workers are content with their working conditions and salaries.
The Embassy also mentioned that some workers faced initial difficulties but were given the option to register for industrial work to secure well-paying jobs. This adjustment was made to ensure immediate opportunities for all Indian workers.
Israel’s construction sector requires workers in specialized areas where local labor is insufficient. The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) has been approached by Israel to recruit 10,000 construction workers and 5,000 caregivers to address skill gaps in infrastructure and healthcare.
The workers are being brought to Israel under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement, facilitating their temporary employment. The NSDC has been tasked with finding workers for roles in framework, iron bending, plastering, and ceramic tiling.
The Israeli Population, Immigration, and Border Authority (PIBA) has requested workers across these specific job roles to meet industry needs. This move highlights the ongoing collaboration between India and Israel to address labor shortages and enhance skill development.
Overall, the bilateral agreement aims to benefit both countries by filling critical job roles in Israel while providing employment opportunities for Indian workers. The anticipated arrival of more workers reflects the positive reception and ongoing partnership between the two nations.
