The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the addition of 614 new seats in the Round 2 Counselling for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) 2024. This update is significant for candidates seeking admission into MBBS programs across India.

Specifically, Andhra Pradesh will see seven additional seats in five medical colleges, Maharashtra will have seven new seats in four colleges, and Telangana will add 600 seats across eight colleges. Notably, in Telangana, 50% of these new seats are reserved for female candidates, while the seats in Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra are open to all genders.
The counselling schedule for Round 2 is as follows:
- Choice Filling/Locking: September 6, 2024, to September 10, 2024 (until 11:55 p.m. server time)
- Processing of Seat Allotment: September 11, 2024, to September 12, 2024

- Verification of Data by Institutes & Data Sharing by MCC: September 21, 2024, to September 22, 2024
This counselling round is crucial as it pertains to the allotment of approximately 1.10 lakh MBBS seats across about 710 medical colleges in India. Additionally, counselling will cover 1,000 BDS seats, along with seats for Ayush and nursing courses.
The MCC will oversee counselling for 15% All-India Quota seats, all AIIMS and JIPMER Pondicherry seats, central university seats, and 100% deemed university seats. This comprehensive approach ensures a broad reach for admissions and aims to accommodate a greater number of students in the medical field.
