Bomb Threats at Mumbai Airport and Nair Hospital Found to Be Fake
On Sunday, police in Mumbai received a phone call saying bombs had been placed at the city’s airport and Nair Hospital. Security was quickly increased, and bomb squads were sent to both places. After checking, no bombs or dangerous items were found. Police later confirmed that the call was fake and have started searching for the person who made it.
This scare comes after many fake bomb threats in Mumbai over the past few months. Just a day earlier, police arrested a man named Ashwin Kumar Supra from Noida for sending a WhatsApp message that claimed there would be serial blasts in Mumbai. He falsely said that “human bombs” had been planted in 34 vehicles and that terrorists had entered India with explosives. The message turned out to be false, but the city was put on high alert.
During the Ganesh idol immersion processions, more than 21,000 police officers were deployed across Mumbai. For the first time, police also used AI-based tools to help manage traffic and guide routes for the large crowds.

- In January 2025, several schools in Mumbai received bomb threat emails from a group calling itself the Afzal Gang, which was later proved false.
