‘Did Governor call you?’: West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee lashes out at cop | WATCH

Remember that you are on state government duty, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee told the police officer after asking him whether he received any instructions from Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took to Twitter on Thursday to share a video of an interaction between a police officer and CM Mamata Banerjee. The interaction took place during an administrative meeting chaired by the Chief Minister.

In the video, CM Mamata Banerjee can be heard telling the Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Midnapore district, “Did the Governor call you? Did he instruct you? What to or what not to do? I know you will not admit that. Do not get into that. Remember you are on state government duty.

“I sent you here so that you work well, but I am getting complaints. If you feel you are finding it difficult to work freely due to some political pressure, you can tell me directly. And don’t listen to anyone else,” said the West Bengal Chief Minister.

While sharing the video on Twitter, Governor Dhankhar wrote: “Hon’ble CM to SP in full media glare”.

It is important to note that BJP MLA and the Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, hails from the East Midnapore district. He represents the Nandigram assembly constituency.

Just last week, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee accused Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar of “threatening” senior officials, including the state’s Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP).

“Every morning and evening he [Governor] tweets accusing and attacking us. As if he is the only supreme and we are bonded labourers. I cannot take it. I have blocked him today on Twitter,” she had told reporters while adding that she had “blocked the Governor” on Twitter.

Mamata Banerjee also claimed that the Governor has been delaying the clearance of files sent to him by the state government.

While the Trinamool Congress has been demanding his removal, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has accused the West Bengal government of “engaging in disinformation to cover up massive flawed functioning”.

“Government is dithering for weeks in rendering response to valid queries,” he wrote in a tweet on Wednesday.
