Union Home Minister Amit Shah has addressed speculation surrounding Jagdeep Dhankhar’s resignation from the post of Vice President of India. Speaking in an exclusive interview with ANI, Shah confirmed that Dhankhar stepped down due to personal health-related issues and not for any political reasons.
The resignation came on the first day of the Monsoon Session of Parliament, prompting widespread discussion in political circles. Opposition leaders questioned the timing of the move, especially ahead of the Vice-Presidential election scheduled for September 9.
Amit Shah dismissed these speculations, stating, “One should not try to stretch too much and find something. Dhankhar worked sincerely within the framework of the Constitution and his contribution is commendable.”
Shah emphasized that Dhankhar’s decision was purely personal and urged all parties to respect his choice without politicizing the development.
The Vice-Presidential election will now be closely watched, as the political landscape adjusts to the sudden vacancy in the second-highest constitutional office.
