PM Modi, EU Leaders Discuss India-EU FTA and Ukraine Peace
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with top leaders of the European Union on Thursday. The meeting included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa.
The leaders talked about finishing the India-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA) quickly and implementing the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).
They also discussed ways to end the war in Ukraine soon.
In a separate conversation, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke to his Ukrainian counterpart, Andrii Sybiha. Later, Jaishankar said on X, “India supports an early end to this conflict and the establishment of an enduring peace.”
These talks show India’s focus on strengthening trade with the EU and helping bring peace to global conflicts. Experts believe the FTA could increase trade between India and the EU while also showing India as a key partner for peace.
