Mumbai, January 24, 2026: Actor and self-styled film critic Kamaal R Khan (KRK) was arrested by Mumbai Police after allegedly firing four rounds at a residential building in Andheri. The building houses writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra.
Khan was detained from his studio on Friday night and formally arrested after police questioned him. During the interrogation, he admitted firing the shots on January 18 with his licensed firearm. Police have since recovered the weapon.
KRK’s Explanation
KRK, who has worked as an actor, director, and film critic, claimed he did not intend to harm anyone. He said he was cleaning his gun and testing it. He aimed at a mangrove forest near his home, thinking the area was safe.
However, strong winds caused one bullet to travel farther than expected. As a result, the bullet hit a building in the Oshiwara area.

Residents and Investigation
Writer-director Neeraj Kumar Mishra lives on the second floor, while model Prateek Baid resides on the fourth floor. Initially, police had no clues about the shooter, but their investigation later revealed KRK’s involvement.
Currently, he is in police custody, and authorities continue to probe for any other motives or negligence.
Public Reaction
KRK’s arrest has triggered widespread media coverage. Furthermore, the incident sparked debates about firearm safety, urban security, and accountability of public figures. Many have expressed concern over gun handling in residential areas.
