Delhi Metro has introduced the ‘Multiple Journey QR Ticket’ (MJQRT), a new digital smart card option for passengers starting Friday. This innovation aims to enhance travel convenience with a single QR code.
The MJQRT can be loaded with an initial amount of ₹150 and recharged up to ₹3,000, offering flexibility based on travel needs. Users must register on the ‘DMRC Momentum Delhi Sarthi 2.0’ app to access the MJQRT.
DMRC Managing Director Vikas Kumar highlighted that the MJQRT simplifies travel by using a single QR code and provides an eco-friendly alternative to traditional smart cards. Passengers can view their journeys, fare payments, and recharges directly on the app.
No security deposit is required for the MJQRT. Users can add value in increments of ₹50 using digital payment methods like UPI, credit, or debit cards. A minimum balance of ₹60 is necessary for travel, and the card offers discounts of 10% during peak hours and 20% during off-peak hours.
The MJQRT marks a pioneering step in India’s metro travel, being the first QR-based multiple-journey product introduced. In case of device loss or damage, passengers can log in on another device to access their remaining balance.
This new facility provides an eco-friendly and economical alternative to existing fare media options, which include single-journey QR tickets, NCMC, and traditional DMRC smart cards.
